46. ADAC Reinoldus Langstreckenrennen

Our first race this year. This time with a newly designed race car, but the same technique (except for that exhaust pipe that was some pain in the ass last season…)

Friday morning visiting the dyno at Manthey in Meuspath (huuaaaa, all that Porsches, how ugly ). Somewhat surprisingly, the dyno showed somewhat fewer kw compared to last year… however…

even Harry couldn’t find them…..

Oli and Erik still smiling, can you see the meter? 208.000km – thereof 10.000km on the Nordschleife, any questions regarding Mercedes quality

Friday afternoon trying to familiarize again with the track, everything ok, maybe except for that 25 vintage Porsches whereof one half might have seen the Nordschleife for the first time…

Saturday morning, qualifying: warm, some rain, Roland went out to drive his 2 stints, we changed to Slicks and Jens went out, showing finally a 10:18 that brought us to position 6 in our peer group V4. (total 113 out of 189).

The crazy race began, starting with Jens, after a few laps red flag, the race was stopped due to a major crash, we were on position 3 at this time. A few minutes later, restart, this time with Roland, and, again red flag after another hour… we lost overview on where we were placed…

Again restart after some time… Jens driving the final 8 laps till the end… .

Finally we finished on an overall position 66, second in our peer group, just 45 seconds behind the yellow-grey BMW E90 325 from “black falcon” team (on the above pic still behind us)

We’ll be back 29th of July…
